It’s Open Studios in Santa Cruz this weekend and all I wanted to do was talk to the artists about their shops and workspaces. Thanks @artscouncilsc

18 years ago today, in a botanical garden restaurant on the coast of Central California, under a clear blue sky and an unexpected flock of birds that gathered overhead to tweet our wedding vows, and our closest friends and family by our side, we began the most wonderful adventure two humans could ask for. More than a dozen artists are hard at work this week putting up murals across Santa Cruz as part of the @seawalls_ project. I found a map online and took a bike tour to snap photos of the artwork in progress. It was so humbling to see each artist in the zone. That first slide is the legendary @jimbophillips I just happen to show up when his parents were there to take proud-parent photos. #imnotworthy #mural #muralart #streetart #urbanart #savetheocean

I rode downtown to watch the @ironmantri competition this morning that’s weaving through Santa Cruz. These riders were finishing up a 55 mile ride in just over 2 hours for the second leg of the race.

Some vandal knocked over our Little Free Library last night. I found it tipped over on the ground this morning with books spilled out on the sidewalk. Total downer, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that my mortise and tenon joints on the door and face frame mostly stayed intact! The roof meanwhile needs some repair. This library will rise again like the Phoenix!
