Bye, bye Facebook.

This Sunday at 9 pm PST I am going to shut down my personal Facebook account and associated pages. It’s the first step in a conscious effort to reduce my dependency on the social media platforms that are literally eroding our democracy and commitment to truth for commercial gain.

Instead, I’m going back to the open internet, reviving this here WordPress blog to post photos and personal updates. I hope you will bookmark it and check in every now and then, and leave a comment or send me a message if you want to say hi.

The open internet is important to preserve because no corporation can manipulate it or hijack it for personal or political gain. It’s just me and an edit window and a server that I control. If you want to see it, all you have to do is click a link. You decide.

I’m still on Instagram, which is ironic because it also tracks my location and listens to me and sells my data for nefarious profits and presents to me a filtered world view, but I just can’t quit it… yet. I like all your pictures.

I will miss following all of you, especially my Albany High School crew from back in the day, but I’d rather hear about your wins and losses via text messages, phone calls, or in person. So please stay in touch and message me your offline contact. If you’re in the Bay, let’s meet up!
